forerunner to the modern day gym, Waterfront Racquet was an upscale
health club
featuring Racquetball Courts, Weight Rooms, and an array of Cardiovascular
Equipment. In addition to integrating locker room amenities, a Juice
bar, Lounge, Steam Room, and Pro Shop, all were included in the scope
of services. Featuring exposed structural and mechanical systems, the design encouraged an authentic and open analogy to the healthy body. Catering to the young professional, ample and strategic use of skylights augmented the organic sense of a health oriented atmosphere, while the designs lively incorporation of color expressed a playful and athletic theme. Developed on an urban site in downtown Buffalo, the exterior incorporated a painted metal panel and concrete solution further signifying the sporty nature of the project. |
