Realizing the
final phase of a mid twentieth century MasterPlan, this 14,500 s/f
addition included a new Sanctuary, Narthex, Sacristy, Administrative
Offices, Conference Spaces, and Parking.
Weaving the character of the 1950 design into the early twenty first
century, the project included a dramatic lighting aspect featuring
no exposed fixtures. Oriented Southeast, this flood of natural light
bathes the structure of fir columns. Dancing in and out of the white
gypsum, this interplay is punctuated by a dramatic translucent crucifix
embedded within the wall behind the alter.
Providing a unique and meditative house for worship, the exterior
of brick evoked both the 1950 design, as well as a clear character
which blended seamlessly with the wider residential nature of the
neighborhood. |
