In
the spring of 2002, the Bethel Community Development Corporation (Bethel
CDC) held a competition in which eleven Western New York architectural
firms submitted concepts for new homes to be built in the Cold Springs
Neighborhood. Tommaso Briatico Architects winning scheme
comprises both a single and two story version with 1,752 total square
feet in the two
story model. This includes 3 bedrooms, two and a half baths, a one
car garage, and a front porch. Up to fifty of these new homes may
be built in this neighborhood during a three year period.
Integrating
original characteristics of the area – usable porches, visible
front entrances, permanent materials – the design sought to
update the type by incorporating modern features like a garage, good
storage, and energy efficiency. |
